California Dreaming, Pt. 2

After so much fun touring wine country and rubbing elbows with celebrity chefs, we ended our California trip with the piece de resistance….a round of golf at Pebble Beach.  I was so excited to arrange this for Mike because I knew that it would be something he’d really want to do.  How often do you get to play Pebble Beach, especially when you live all the way across the country?  Again, I had my camera handy and took a TON of photos.  I even took pictures of the 3 gentlemen who were paired with us and sent them almost 100 photos of just them!  Yes, I have a problem. ;)

Warning!  Another large collection of photos!  Enjoy!

California Dreaming, Part 1

If you’ve never been to California for the winery tours, then you definitely have to put it on your list of things to do, because it is a blast.  We visited 5 wineries in the span of a little more than 24 hours…..Opus One, Saddleback Cellars, Rudd Winery, Reynolds Family Winery, and Crocker & Starr.  We enjoyed almost every one of them (a little disappointed in Opus One, but hey, who doesn’t enjoy spending $75 for two glasses of wine, information on an index card, and a self-tour of the grounds?) and would recommend a visit there to anyone who asked.  Our driver (yep, no drinking and driving for us) was incredibly nice and helpful and made the day so much more relaxing.  As if the wine wasn’t enough, eh?  Looking forward to going back soon!

Mike is 40!

Whew, talk about a whirlwind couple of months!  Seriously, we have been going since at least mid-March and it’s not going to slow down until May.  But we’ve had a great time, most importantly….we celebrated the BIG 4-0 for Mike!  For the past couple of years, I knew I wanted to celebrate Mike’s big day in style, so when the opportunity hit (ie: 4 days off from work), I was planning like a mad woman.  A HUGE thank-you to my brother for his part in helping the process.

For the most part, Mike knew where we were going initially and part of what we were doing.  But, there was more to the trip than what he knew about.  He knew we’d be flying to California to begin our trip in Napa, but the rest would be a surprise as we progressed through the trip.  But then I hit a snag…a major part of his birthday present was a round at the legendary Pebble Beach Links Golf Course.  I was trying to get his clubs out there so that they’d be waiting but it just wasn’t meant to be.  So, I had to tell him 2 days before we were set to leave that he’d be playing Sunday morning.  Still excited and still a surprise, it actually took a little pressure off for me I now I didn’t have to pack appropriate clothing for him without his knowledge.  He ended up renting a set of clubs out there, so I blew the surprise for no reason…..but not a big deal.

We hit several wineries while in Napa (can you say intoxicated?), attended the Lexus Grand Tasting (met Tyler Florence and Anne Burrell as well as other celebrity chefs), played/walked the gorgeous golf course, and more.  I was taking pictures left and right and upon downloading the images once we returned home, learned I took over 900 pictures!  That’s just crazy!  So that means, I have a TON of editing to do.  Because I can no longer just take pictures and post them, I now have the compulsion to edit them too so that they’re just perfect….or at least closer to it.  For now, here’s a series of shots from Mike on the 7th hole, one of the more picturesque holes on the course.  I’ll be working on others and posting them shortly, but like I said…..900+ photos people.  That’s a lot of work in my future.  Happy Birthday Mike!

Happy Belated Cameron!

I am a bad, bad aunt.  I celebrated, that’s no doubt.  But I failed to post it here for all of cyberspace to see.  So now, I must announce that we have a teenager in the family once again!  Big happy birthday wishes going out to my amazingly talented nephew, Cameron!  We love you and can’t wait to see you this summer!

My Big 3-Year-Old

It’s startling that another year has come and gone, but reality is that my sweet Baby Jack Reese is quickly growing.  No longer do I have this little person to call my baby, but rather one who is becoming more independent everyday and is growing into this amazing little boy.
Instead of planning a party here at the house, we opted for a family trip to Disney World a couple of weekends ago.  With the arrival of AKR and recently hosting Christmas for the first time, time was at a premium and I found that despite my best intentions, it had just run out.  So tonight, we had a big spaghetti dinner with family and kept it low-key.  I believe it was still a big hit.
Little man opened presents, played with family, and blew out candles on not one, but TWO Tim Tebow birthday cakes.  They represented both the Gators and the Broncos, but the Broncos one had royal blue icing instead of navy blue.  Certainly didn’t have any effect on the deliciousness of the cake, I can tell you that. ;)
 One……two……..
Wait! Kisses for Daddy!
 …Three!  Make a wish!
Hmmm, a perfectly sized cupcake made especially for me!
Deeee-lish!
